The most popular aesthetic treatments include Botox and Dermal Fillers, Platelet-Rich Plasma, Skin Boosters and Chemical Peels. These treatments can help to reduce the signs of aging, improve skin texture and tone, and enhance the overall appearance of the skin.
Botox or Botulinum Toxin Type A is an injectable muscle relaxant used to soften and reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Botulinum Toxin Type A is a cosmetic treatment that blocks signals from your nerves to your muscles to prevent them from contracting.
Botox injections work by blocking signals from nerves that cause muscles to contract. Usually, when the muscles contract – this results in the wrinkle being visible. When the muscle is unable to contract, the wrinkle will soften and become less visible. The reduction in muscle movement can also help to prevent new wrinkles from forming.
Provided you’ve had a full consultation with a medical professional and your treatment is being administered by a qualified professional (ideally a medical professional) you should have no particular problems with using Botox.
Common and Mild Side Effects:
These are usually temporary and resolve within a few days to a week.
Dermal fillers are made from a product called hyaluronic acid (HA), which naturally occurs in the body. Its key role is to absorb water and transport nutrients to the skin ensuring that the structure and volume are maintained.
During the normal ageing processs, the fat compartments of the face lose volume and the ligaments holding them in place become weaker leading to a sagging appearance. Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers are extremely ‘hydrophilic’ or water loving. When they are injected, they boost the skins volume, so the area becomes revitalised and volumised.
By placing the dermal filler in specific anatomical positions, this can also create a lifting effect. Adding volume helps to address issues such as volume loss, laxity and sagging of the skin, having a positive effect on lines and wrinkles. They can also be injected directly beneath lines to help soften and improve them.
The effects of dermal fillers are noticeable immediately after the procedure. These effects are long-lasting, non-permanent and reversible. Generally, most clients return for a follow-up treatment approximately every 6-12 months.
Common side effects of dermal fillers include swelling, redness, and bruising at the injection site. These effects are usually temporary and resolve on their own within a few days. Rarer side effects will be explained during your consultation and can include allergic reactions or uneven results.
